Training and
support is provided to engage people to share Jesus
through the relationships developed while serving in
the community, either through corporate engagement
or in individual venues. We understand that we serve
those in need in the name of Jesus.
North Park
Church embraces a 3-pronged approach for local
outreach (“CSI North Park”):
-
Connect: Encouraging and equipping the body of NPC to
engage in service to the local community as a
“door opener” to share the hope that we have
-
Share: Equipping the body of NPC to effectively share
the Gospel
-
Include:
Welcoming and assimilating visitors into the
body of NPC
In order to more effectively engage
in needs-oriented evangelism in our local area,
North Park Church seeks to establish relationships
with existing community organizations.
As a catalyst for this, twice each year North Park
Church is involved in a one-day service blitz for
our community, called 'Compassion Day'.
Through these special service days, we hope to
increase the understanding of our congregation in
ways they can continue serving on an ongoing basis.
Some of the
organizations served are North Hills Community
Outreach, Spina Bifida Association, Good Samaritan
Hospice, Women's Choice Network, Family Guidance,
and the Town of McCandless.

Day, and

Two other such ministries are Angel
Food, a low cost grocery ministry, and Light of Life
mission on Pittsburgh’s North Side. There are other “home-grown” outreach
ministries, including the Sonshine Ministry, an
outreach to those in nursing homes.
Currently we send teams to three different
facilities in the area. These teams lead a time of
worship and instruction and build relationships with
the residents of these homes. It is a rich and
rewarding ministry as we see the image of God
shining through those whom we serve.
Three
fundamental attributes of our church and our
denomination are:
-
We are
planted by God in our own community to effectively
reach those around us.
-
We are
continually in the process of equipping our
members to be missionaries sent by God.
-
We are
constantly re-examining ourselves as to whether we
are merely doing maintenance of existing
ministries and members, or whether we are
effectively doing the mission of reaching our own
community.
