Annual Dog-Days Chili Cook-Off - July 31st
Ever
hear of the “Dog Days of Summer”? It’s a term used for the
hottest, most sultry time of summer, typically between
July and early September. It’s hazy, humid, and everyone
moves a little slower or retreats to the comfort of their
air conditioning.
Ever participated in a chili cook-off? Did you know that
there is actually an International Chili Society? Oh yea,
it’s a big deal and they sponsor chili cook-offs all over
the world, many in the sultry heat of summer. Contestants
prepare their special ingredients of meat, sauces, beans,
spices, or whatever, and enter into a competition to see
whose chili is the most popular.
Well,
we thought it would be fun to provide such an opportunity
at North Park Church. So, on Saturday, July 31st,
from 5pm to 8pm, North Park Church will sponsor the 1st
Annual Dog Days Chile Cook-Off! Got a special recipe? Want
to see what others think? Bring it on!
Details
are still being worked-out, but we are planning on live
music, many “chili contestants” (with trophies for the top
3 chilis!), other foods, and games for kids. Mark your
calendars! Bring your neighbors and friends. It will
be a lot of fun for the whole family and a great outreach
to our community!
