A Food Ministry
with a Servant’s Heart
Angel Food Ministries Comes to NPC
We are partnering with – Angel Food Ministries – a food ministry to the community around us. NPC is providing this ministry as a service oriented outreach as well as to introduce a broader segment of the local community to our church and the love of Jesus Christ.
Angel Food Ministries (AFM) is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States, serving tens of thousands of families. With AFM, all food sales and distribution are handled by church
host sites.
There are no restrictions or stipulations for a person/family to qualify to purchase food
from AFM. For NPC however, we want to focus on the seniors in our community and their caregivers. All AFM groceries are sold at $30 per unit. One unit of food can help feed a family of four for one week or a single senior citizen for almost one full month. The predetermined “menu” for the groceries is different every month, but always contains a variety of groceries with a retail value of approximately $65 - $70. The food is of the same high quality you find in the grocery store – no damaged or outdated goods.
What does this look like at NPC as a church host site?
Taking Orders - click here for scheduled dates and time.
- Orders will then be sent to the AFM headquarters for processing.
Distributing Food - click here for scheduled dates and times.
- Within two weeks, orders will ship from AFM and be delivered to a nearby area (determined by AFM) one Saturday morning each month. NPC volunteers will pick-up the food at that location and deliver it to NPC for distribution (people who have ordered the food will come to the church to pick-up their order).
- Other volunteers will set-up, greet those coming to pick-up their orders, help fill their boxes with the food, assist elderly in carrying the boxes to their car, and be involved in cleaning-up and tearing down.
This basic procedure is done once each month on two predetermined Saturday mornings.
So, what is needed? Volunteers! Maybe your small group is looking for a way to serve? Or your ministry area (men, students, MOM’s, Primetimers, etc.)? Most importantly, AFM offers a great opportunity for families to serve together and share the experience. Student Ministries has already indicated their desire to participate, what about you?
If we all pitch-in, each person’s commitment to serve will be very doable – making the load lighter and expanding the blessings of the experience!
NPC involvement in service outreach into our local community through Angel Food Ministries can only be accomplished with a committed group of volunteers. Won’t you please consider how you and your family could participate? Click here if you are interested in being a volunteer. Click here to see this month’s menu and schedule.
